BetMGM and NHL Expand Partnership to Create Hockey-Branded Casino Games
Gambling operator BetMGM and the National Hockey League (NHL) have signed an expanded partnership to develop team and league-branded casino games for the operator’s North American casino products.
The operator, jointly owned by MGM Resorts and Entain, first entered into a partnership with the NHL in April 2022, becoming the league’s first Official North American Gaming and Sports Betting Partner. BetMGM has subsequently used its NHL partnership to deliver hockey-themed casino games to players.
In October 2022, BetMGM and Evolution Gaming launched NHL-branded roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and its money wheel game, Dream Catcher, to players in New Jersey, Ontario, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
It expanded its NHL offering in early December 2023, unveiling the first NHL-endorsed online slot game for New Jersey online casino players, NHL Gold Blitz. The 6×4 video slot, which featured 4,096 ways to win, showcased team logos from all 32 teams, as well as NHL branding.
The partnership will also provide BetMGM with branding during nationally televised broadcasts and camera-visible signage during the regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs. It will also leverage virtual on-ice BetMGM branding for activation.
BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said in a press release on the agreement, “Our partnership extension with the NHL enables us to enhance the BetMGM product and offer fans unforgettable entertainment built around the game they love the NHL is more thrilling than ever – a symphony of athleticism, teamwork, and skill on skates. We look forward to bringing our customers exceptional live experiences and new content.”
Jason Jazayeri, NHL Vice President of Business Development, said, “We are thrilled about our partnership extension with BetMGM. The evolution of our partnership with BetMGM will focus on building unique and compelling fan experiences, as well as event activation and media programming, all with an eye towards delivering exciting new ways for our fans to interact and engage with the sport they love.”
