Pennsylvania gaming revenue hits six-month high with help from Caesars Entertainment

Pennsylvania’s gaming revenue report for October has revealed the highest revenue generated in six months and a 7.3% increase from the previous year. Compared to the corresponding month in 2022, revenue has risen by at least $27 million every month in 2023. All types of gambling in Pennsylvania generated $483 million in revenue. 

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course ($77.2 million), Valley Forge Casino Resort ($64.4 million), and Parx Casino ($53.7 million) generated the most revenue for the state.

Pennsylvania’s gaming revenue report for October has revealed the highest revenue generated in six months and a 7.3% increase from the previous year.

According to the data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), the highest revenue-generating game type was land-based slots, which brought in a total of $192.5 million. However, this represents a 3.3% decline from the previous year. The PGCB revealed online slots to be the second-most popular game type, bringing in $109.8 million, a 27.2% increase from October 2022.

Furthermore, online table games saw a 19.4% surge in revenue, bringing in $42.6 million this October, while land-based table games only saw a 2% increase to reach $81.5 million.

iGaming has become increasingly popular and now accounts for almost one-third of total gaming revenue in Pennsylvania. With online poker, the total iGaming revenue was $154.8 million, a 24.3% annual increase. Harrah’s Philadelphia, in partnership with Caesars Entertainment, operator of Caesars casino and Tropicana Casino, took $8 million in revenue in October, representing a 136% year-on-year increase.

Revenue generated from sports wagering saw an 18.9% year-on-year increase, with online sports betting accounting for $43.1 million of the $48.2 million total. Parx Casino Bensalem saw the highest total retail sports wagering revenue of just over $1 million. Meanwhile, the highest online sports betting revenue and total sports betting revenue came from Hollywood Casino at the Meadows with $18.7 million.

The PGCB reported that players in the Keystone State wagered just over $829 million on sports and revealed that Valley Forge Casino Resort generated the highest handle.
